Seaweed in health drink

The National University of Singapore (NUS) has collaborated with local food manufacturer YGC Group to produce a drink made from eucheuma, a type of seaweed commonly found on South-east Asian seabeds. Eucheuma is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can lower blood pressure. Studies have also indicated that consumption may prevent cardiovascular diseases and colon cancer. Assistant Professor Yang Hongshun of NUS' Food Science and Technology Programme was the lead for the drink research project.
